Through rare footage we follow the young player’s journey from ghetto to international superstar. The film is up close and personal in the crucial years of his debut at Malmö FF in 1999, the troubled years at Ajax Amsterdam and finally his breakthrough at Juventus in 2005.
The young Zlatan is the story about a young talent who lives under constant pressure: from teammates, who think he is a solo player, managers who put him on the bench, and from his father who tells his 18 year old son that “You are nothing. You are nobody, unless you make it internationally.”
Since the directors had access to Zlatan before he became a legend, the film gives an honest view on who the mysterious superstar is, behind the wall of privacy he subsequently has built around him.
